Selective Laser Sintering

Nylon Selective Laser Sintering

Nylon is a white material that is easy to clean and paint, with a melting point of more than 170C. It is ideal when you need a tough and functional prototype, spare-parts or a finished product ready for market. Nylon prints can have very thin walls (0.5mm), which are light yet robust and it looks stunning. Also, you can produce a prototype or architectural model for your customer to examine without fear of it being too delicate to handle.

In the nylon SLS (selective laser sintering) method of printing, the 3D object is sliced horizontally into 100 micron layers via the CAD CAM digitization process and then built in the 3D printer one layer on top of each other. With each additional layer, a laser beam then selectively melts the very fine particles of Nylon powder to build the object. Multiple parts can be printed simultaneously as the build envelope is 190mm x 230mm x 310mm.NylonMaterial The unsintered powder provides all necessary support, so the post processing is a simple matter of either blowing or washing the powder away.

We can further enhance the nylon print with our polishing service. We can produce varying degrees of smoothing for more delicate objects, up to an ivory-like finish for more solidly built objects. Our clients use this method for a polished and "finished" appearance to their Nylon SLS objects, ready for market.

The polishing service is a one-off fee applied per batch/order. Please contact us for samples of the finish that can be achieved.
