Selective Laser Sintering

The Selective Laser Sintering process is ideal for producing tough, functional prototype models required for product testing, direct from customer supplied 3D CAD data. Models can withstand rigorous testing and high temperatures (up to 150 C) making them ideal for use in under bonnet applications, impact testing, and even as final production mouldings.

Requiring very little post cleanup, parts can be produced in nylon or glass filled nylon, with part complexity no issue at all. Fully functional snap fits and living hinges can be accurately produced and tested.

Selective Laser Sintering parts can also be fully finished, painted, water sealed or colored to customer requirements to give highly functional and aesthetic models!

Stereolithography

Stereolithography is the longest established Rapid Prototyping process and is an excellent process for producing fast, accurate prototype models for verification of product designs. Parts can be fully finished and used as form/fit models, presentation models or as patterns for creating silicone moulds.

LPE run a range of SLA machines including the High Resolution Viper Machine which offers exceptional accuracy and definition.

With parts from connectors to car bumpers, we can offer an unparalleled range of materials, allowing for snap fits, optical clarity, medical testing and high temperature applications.

Metal Casting / Die Casting

We offer castings in aluminium, zinc, steel and brass using various techniques including Investment Casting, sand casting and CNC machining as well as all post machining, finishing, X ray, anodising etc.

Investment Casting wax patterns can be produced from silicone tools using accurate SLA models as master patterns. “Quickcast” SLA models, Thermojet wax models, and SLS models can also be burnt out directly to produce fast and precise one off metal components.

Vacuum Casting / Vacuum Forming

Vacuum Casting allows for the faithful replication of plastic parts in a wide range of near production casting resins. Castings can be used throughout the product life-cycle from early design verification to short run production.

Castings can be accurately matched to customer specified colours (Pantone, BS and RAL) and surface finishes (from Matt to Spark and High Gloss).

Drilled, tapped insert moulded and over moulded parts can be supplied. Excellent optical clarity, colour tinting, high impact strength, temperature resistance and flame retardancy can all be supplied to provide as close a match to your final production requirements as possible.

CNC Machining

Using the very latest CNC Powermill software to create tool paths, LPE can produce concept models, casting patterns or final mouldings in a wide range of customer specified materials including plastics and metals.

Components produced range from small, intricate parts to large components measuring up to 1000 x 600 x 600mm.

Working with a range of industries from defence to medical and consumer goods and whether the requirement is a foam block model or a short run of metal or plastic components, we can offer the best solution for your Prototyping requirements.

Reaction Injection Moulding

The RIM process is a fast and cost effective method of producing low volume batches of production components. Using silicone, epoxy or aluminium tools customers can have first off components within days, without the expense and delay of full production tooling.

The process offers extremely flexible production opportunities for clients who either require a few off specialised mouldings or production runs of a few thousand. Parts can be fully finished and painted to customer specification.
