Sustainable Living Lab

Founded in 2011, Sustainable Living Lab (SL2) is a technology-driven social enterprise, and also the innovation arm of Ground-Up Initiative. We believe in rethinking the way we make things. Many issues such as Poverty, social marginalization and environmental degradation have their roots in the way our economic system of production is managed.

Through SL2, we develop a responsible way of thinking about the “making of things”. We practice our values in the crafting of sustainable products such as the iBam bamboo speaker, Reka smart furniture, FiredUp upcycled firehose accessories and cardboard toys. True change, ultimately lies in education and through our courses on practical innovation, entrepreneurship and humanitarian design, we have nurtured a growing community of inventors, makers and craftsmen from all walks of life who in their own ways lead the changing in rethinking the way things are made.

Situated very close to Nature, SL2 also operates Singapore’s leading Makerspace at Bottle Tree Park (Yishun) within Ground-Up Initiative’s beautiful SL Kampung. Equipped with analog and digital fabrication tools such as a 3D Printer, Laser Cutter and CNC Machine, the Kampung Lab serves as the focal point for our community of makers.
